WEEKLY UPDATE - Sunday, October 15, 2023

Monty Hopkins
Hello MAST Families,                                                                                                            W/U #7 / 2023-10015

MONDAY PRACTICE TIME CHANGE

Please be reminded of the change in practice times for Monday, October 16.  It is a goal to have the most consistent practice times possible, but we also will take advantage to any high school practice schedules that arise if it means we can either get more pool time or we can start practices earlier in the evening.  Tomorrow (Monday, October 16) is one of those opportunities due to a last-minute water polo practice cancellation.  I apologize for any inconvenience but felt that it is in most people’s best interest to start and finish practices earlier whenever possible.

IMPORTANT:

New families USA Swimming registration.  As you know MAST will pay for the USA Swimming registration, but all families new to USASwimming still need to sign up with USA Swimming.  Any swimmer(s) registered in 2023 with USA Swimming do not need to do anything else.  Families who added a swimmer this year (not registered in 2023) will need to go to their USA Swimming portal and add the new swimmer so that we can register them.  Please complete the new swimmer / new family registration as soon as possible.

MAST INTRA-SQUAD MEET

Thanks to Coach Corey for setting up an excellent introduction to swim meets for our younger swimmers.  It seemed that our new MAST swimmers (and parents) caught on quickly and now we can look forward to MAST swimmers being ready foe the Jose Cerda meet at the end of the month.

MAST SWIM-A-THON

An important fundraiser – The Swim-A-Thon – is scheduled for Saturday, November 4

The Milford Area Swim Team will be holding an official Swim-a-Thon on Saturday Morning, November 4 at the Milford High School Natatorium.

During this Swim-a-Thon, swimmers will have a designated time period in which to swim a maximum of 200 lengths. Donors are encouraged to support our athletes by pledging to support their efforts-either via a flat donation, or by pledging a certain amount of money per length that the swimmer completes.

The Swim-a-Thon will provide funds to enable our club to continue to offer quality programming at reasonable training fees and support both the MAST club and Milford High School swimming operations (training equipment, facility enhancements, etc.)

Swim-a-Thon™ is the only pledge-for-length swimming program recognized by the USA Swimming Foundation. Since 2008, Swim-a-Thons have generated more than $72 million for swim clubs and swim programs across the country.

Persons interested in sponsoring a swimmer should contact Milford Area Swim Team Head Coach Monty Hopkins at [email protected] or work directly with a MAST swimmer.

About the USA Swimming Foundation: The USA Swimming Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of USA Swimming. Established in 2004, the Foundation works to strengthen the sport of swimming by saving lives and building champions. Whether we’re equipping our children with the life-saving skill of learn-to-swim, or providing financial support to our heroes on the U.S. National Team, the USA Swimming Foundation aims to provide the wonderful experience of swimming to kids at all levels across the country. The Foundation also serves as the home for our National and Olympic Team Alumni reunions and regional events. The development efforts of the USA Swimming Foundation aim to establish an endowment to strengthen the future of USA Swimming’s programs and services.
