Weekly Message Supplemental - Wednesday, May 19, 2021

Monty Hopkins

Hello MAST Families,

Three items today:

1) Jill Griesse Memorial Swim Meet - June 19-20

2) Summer practice schedule

3) SOSL meet schedule

Jill Griesse Memorial:

Please note the addition of an outdoor long course meters meet scheduled in June 19-20 in Dresden, OH (east of Zanesville, OH) called the Jill Greise Memorial.  We were originally not on the invited list but with the Governor lifting Covid restrictions we were able to gain an invitation.

We encourage everyone from the Black Groups who can attend the meet to sign up as soon as possible.  We will not be making a hotel block reservation so look for hotel rroms in Zanesville.  There are limited hotels (mostly Bed and Breakfast) in Dresden.  Some hotel information is at the end of this message.

Swimmers in the Red groups who may be interested in the meet should talk with Coach Corey.

Summer Practice Schedule:

The proposed MAST practice schedule has been submitted to the Milford Aquatics Director and we are waiting for final approval.  The practice schedule will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

SOSL Swim Meets:

SOSL Meets are also posted on the "Events" page.  With out limited practice opportunities, these meets present a great opportunity for the most specific form of training - In Season Competition.  Let's get everyone participating in these meets as they are a great way to further develop our skills.  We will have practice on the day of the meet.  Currently there is no plan for a SOSL League Championship Meet.

SOSL meets:

June 15 at Coney Island

June 22 at Woodhaven

June 29 at Clinton Hills

July 6 at Mariemont

July 13 at Phillips

Jluy 15 at Western Athletic Club

Make sure to check the website for updates,

(And in those words all swimmers love to hear: "One more thing before you leave...")

Master's swimming practices are going great.  We have an enthusiastic group who come to swim at 7:45 pm Monday - Thursday on the days that MAST has practice.  If you are interested, t's not too late to join.  Check with board members Andy Eminger, Nina Cornwell or coaches Corey, Erin or Monty for more information.

See you at the pool,

Monty
